Captain Tony's M151a1

Unread post by kl7xx » September 9th, 2014, 4:07 pm

If a continuing learning experience is making progress there may be some images of the M151a1 Captain Tony has entrusted to my custody.

Currently the jeep will start when cold and run without missing for a minute or so. Once it begins to warm up enough to choke closure the engine will stall and if/when restarted will only run on one cylinder (or not at all).

After leaving it sit for an hour or so it will again start and run without missing for a short period of time and then quits again, sometimes with a squeal as it dies. Very distressing.

The Riverside farm boy checked the tail pipe as it was dying and got a handful of carbon and water and there is a strong smell of unburnt gasoline so for now we are going to work on the distributor.

This post a starting point to see if any of the photo bucket pictures will show up.

Apparently the photo bucket link shows up but the actual photos aren't directly attached to the post. Any suggestions to upload the actual images to a post rather than just links?

When your recently acquired jeep is sick having a resource like this is rather comforting.

I'm guessing you are clicking the IMG instead of the DIRECT box there to the right of the picture on photobucket.
Nice looking jeep! :)

If you click the IMG in photobucket you do NOT hit the IMG in the forum, just hit paste and that is it.

Very nice looking 151. One suggestion, take the wire tie off of the wires by the distributor. The strain of those wires hanging on the distributor wire could cause the distributor wire to break. The issue you are describing sound like a bad coil.
