Intercomm

Unread post by Elvis Presley » October 25th, 2020, 10:50 pm

Looking for some info on what kind of intercomm would have been used in a gun Jeep 67-69? Also any info on how it would interface with a prc-77 and where it and the radios could have been mounted other than in the normal location?? Any pics inside gun jeeps? I’ve seen the sugar scoop mounted up on the armor above or in front of the passenger seat - curious if the antenna tuner was placed some place other than on the corner mount? Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!

we had 6 gun jeeps, and none of them had intercoms. our V100's and our M113's all had VIC 1 intercoms, which ran through the RT524's. jim stewart has put together an MP page with more pictures than i can count, and i don't recall seeing intercoms on anyone else's jeeps either. if you run a PRC77 through the typical base mount, the intercom would probably work, since that's where the connections are made. i installed a VIC 1 on my A1, simply because my hearing has deteriorated to the point that i needed it to converse with my passengers, or to broadcast on my 524. level 1 HAMS can use the 6 meter band. if you want to see pics of how i did mine, send me your email address.

Right on! Thanks for the information!! My email is arushing@ford.com.
I am scrounging up all the parts for a VIC-1 and two crew stations. Nothing fancy, but wanted to make a decent gun-jeep recreation.

Thanks again!

Have a nice day!!
