I strongly suspect some people just want to put lots of bullets down range only because it makes them feel better.

There was a day in Kabul where the Taliban guys were just lobbing RPG-7 rounds into our embassy from an unfinished multi-story building about 800 yards out. As we were located contiguous to ISAF HQ, some of those fellows decided to grab their little carbines, climb up on a conex box and start firing over our outer wall (and over our embassy grounds as well) toward the building where the bad guys were. Heck, that building wasn't even in range but those fellows were blazing away anyway. Being legit military types you'd think they'd know. Maybe they were trying to earn a ribbon or something. Amazing what some folks will do for a scrap of fabric. Now keep in mind this was IN Kabul so those rounds were landing in somebody's neighborhood.

One of our marksmen suspects he nailed one of the bad guys because the target dropped out of sight and did not reappear but because he was working without a spotter and is an honest fellow, he didn't claim it. We had thoroughly ranged potential targets long before this day ever came so it wasn't too terribly complex for him to get set up. That's really the only piece of action the embassy got as the rest of us simply hunkered down, kept the civilians under cover and let the cavalry to our talking for us and I'm not talking strafing runs. Nope.

Once those helicopters finally got underway they just zoomed in, went into a boresight hover Hollywood movie style and they just tore that place and the bad guys up! First the Hinds came in and unloaded on the place (those Hinds always gave me a shiver) and later the Blackhawks came in and gave them what for just to make sure and I got to watch it go down. Not a nice thing to say but I will say it anyway - what a satisfying feeling when someone is getting paid back in spades!

You can do 800 yards with an M-16 but their is gonna be a LOT of Kentucky windage involved. The drop at that range will be 20 feet or more. Running full auto................................ Yea, they were sprinkling peoples yards far short I guarantee.

Using a M14 for 800 yards would give you better accuracy I would think.I wonder if that rifle is still in use?

The M110 is pretty much what the M14 has morphed into. Same basic round.

I had that same Italian made .22 in the mid 70s. It was unique as you say and the reactions I experienced were similar. When I bought my first Colt AR 15 (SP1) in the late 70s, I sold the .22. Now I'm back to conversions and dedicated builds in .22. What a fickle lot we gunnutz are :?

Haven't put anything on here in a long time but spotted this earlier.

1,000 rounds of Winchestger 115 gr. FMJ brass cased 9mm packed loose.

$369.50 plus shipping.

Don't think this will last long as it is not priced that much higher than Russian steel cased ammo with a bi-metal jacket.

It is going to last a long. LONG time if they are waiting for me to buy it!! I have many other calipers I can shoot and I can also reload cast bullets for all of them. These ammo companies can go bankrupt (again) for all I care, where are the freakin' primers? They are selling them directly on Gunbroker for ten times normal price, And that is new stock most likely right from Mr. Vanderbeeks business deals.

WOW RICK, didn't expect that reply.

Just posting some good prices (for the times) on high quality brand name 9mm ammunition for someone who may be low.

You're starting to sound like the old man in everyone's childhood neighborhood, the one who shook his cane at you and yelled:

"HEY YOU KIDS, GET OUT OF MY YARD".

Sorry, I am just fed up with the ammo situation. I see all the company owners telling everyone how they are working 24/7 and making 10 times more than they ever did but where is it? Only on Gunbroker at some outrageous prices. Sorry people, I fully support buy American up to the point where the American companies are flat out screwing me over. Then I dig in and say enough is enough. They can sell the ammo much cheaper and still make a very good profit on it but they have gotten greedy and they are going for all they can get in this time of panic buying. If they dropped the price they would make as much money because the panic buyers would continue to buy by the warehouse loads up till they run out of storage space but us poor folks would still be able to afford to shoot. But no, they are going to keep the price astronomical until people just stop buying. And they are smart, there are something like 10 million NEW gun owners since the pandemic started and these people do not know what the normal price of ammo is so they are happy to pay these inflated prices. If I have to decide whether to pay the bills or go to the range then as much as I hate it the guns stay in the cabinet. And if it goes on long enough they will be sold off. They do me absolutely no good sitting here.

Yea, you ought to buy some American made lumber, I totally refuse to buy any at this point, the sawmills are all full around my area. :x Now if you're a timber owner, the stump price is about the same as it was 2 years ago, someone is getting greedy.

It has been well documented that the sawmills were the greedy ones there, nobody else in the entire lumber line was making any more profit but them. Now they have a problem and again, I hope they choke on it. The sad part is that since they can't move the lumber they will not be buying anymore for a while which hurts everyone down the line. I see lumber prices are dropping like a rock but I think contractors are going to say hey, you hurt me so now it is your turn, and they are going to hold out until the prices go way lower than they were.
