My version of MERDC camo

Used the four color MERDC camo pattern from the mid 1980's and wanted to do subdued markings, so had to use a light background where markings would be, so a little veriant from the official pattern. But, close enough for government work.

Good eyes. 66 A1 but A2 windshield and electric wipers, so I left it as is. This was the personal jeep of a retired GA National Guard unit and the motor pool probably put on what upgrades they could. After using vacuum wipers on all my other vehicles, it's nice to not only have electric wipers, but high and low speed. Our mission on this one was to leave it as we found it as much as possible. Not to make it factory or motor class condition. The trailer that came with it was a 416 tub jammed onto a 762 trailer, right over the flat bed and everything, jammed down in between the 762 fenders. From 10 feet away you'd never notice. But we put the 416 on the 762 frame which is the same frame after re removing the flat bed and fenders, lift ring bars and lunette tower. The 416 is in the paint shop. To camo or not to camo?

I would have left the A2 windshield on as well. Had a 68 rambler American (my first car) that had vacuum wipers. Every time you stepped on the gas, the wipers would slow down, just when you needed them the most! At least the A1 had a vacuum pump in addition to engine vacuum to work them. Maybe some A1 owners will chime in on how effective this system is.

Mine works just fine, up till the vacuum pump went bad. They still work on the engine vacuum but not as well. I just keep Rain-X on the windshield.

My Kaiser M715 that I purchased from a fire department in MO just got delivered and showed up with vacuum wipers and the hoses still attached, but dry and probably not connected under the hood. But I was surprised that Bubba did not put in some JC Whitney 12v electric wiper motors and hot wire to one battery. They seem to move freely and I can hear the flappers inside swooching back and forth. So, if I keep them lubricated with some penetrating oil or sewing machine oil till I get around to them, they should be salvageable. It's canvas top with no bows or canvas, so I'm not driving around in the rain anyway.
