trailer load of fire wood

Unread post by Horst » January 2nd, 2023, 12:07 pm

it is unbelievable warm for the season, we had 20°C/68°F this weekend...

I took advantage of those temperatures and put the trailer to use. Got us about 1 cubicmeter of firewood (0,3 cord), that should serve us well thru the rest of the winter, we have a small flat with 3 rooms and can heat the living room with it.

Not sure about the rest of the world, but in Germany cost for heating such as natural gas and the cost for electric power went through the roof because of the war. So, despite fire wood also doubled in price, it is still attractive.

No different here, gas prices have gone up 35% for me so far this heating season and they are asking for more. I am sure they will get it. A cord of firewood right now is around 300.00. I have shied away from burning Pine but I go through 4-5 cords of wood a year and I have several cords of pine just waiting to be split so I am going to start burning it. Just have to clean the chimney a lot more often. It is sad, you people over there are stuck due to the circumstances but over here we have plenty of gas underground, we are just not allowed to access it thanks to politics. And when they do get it out the big oil companies sell it overseas because they get more money for it there. So even though it comes from here it does us no good. But hey, lets eliminate ALL fossil fuel vehicles and convert to electric vehicles!!! Right now they are begging the people to cut back on electric usage and do not charge their electric vehicles at certain times of the day. Consider there are something like 5% of the vehicles now are electric! Yea, this is gonna work out well. Kind of reminds me of "military Intelligence". Two words that should never be used together!

It is the best car we have to get firewood out of difficult places!! The Mutt doesn't mind having a trailer full of firewood and going up hills in wet grass and mud, he gets that trailer full of firewood wherever it's needed.
My parents have a wood boiler to heat the house and also a fireplace in the living room every year they spend several trailers like that. I am good son :D :D and I'm going to help you cut and load the firewood, when they are difficult places, we take the Mutt!!

A greeting and gasoline always

and again the trailer was used for his pretty much only purpose.

Price of firewood has come down just a little bit. That's about half a ton of wood, depending on how cold it will get this year, we might just need this much.

Bucket by bucket up to the third floor. I was thinking that maybe instead of jeep, a fire engine with a nice ladder would be nice just now and then :)

I go through 3-4 cords a year heating my house. My place is far from efficient, The insulation in the walls is from 1952 and the ceiling has little to none. I cannot get anyone to work on the house that is not a big time contractor that wants to basically build a new house. I need smaller jobs done on my budget, not theirs. I miss the days when I was able to doo all my own work!!!
