A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I was wondering about feedback on replacement fuel pumps for the A-2s. I have two takeoff pumps that the diaphragms have petrified. Are the replacement pumps by Airtex, and who does make them if not,and are they reliable, also does someone offer rebuild kits? thanx

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I replaced mine with one that was on the list of substitute parts - can't remember the model number now but it was for an Australian early-60s Chrysler. The fittings for the fuel line were different but that was no problem. Works 100%.

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I use the airtex 60577 pump. It’s slightly different than the original, but works great
Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
Those Dodge slant 6 pumps will "work", that does not mean they are not doing damage to the camshaft in the process. They are not riding on the face of the cam like the original pump. There are any number of pumps that will "work" as long as the arm rides against the cam in some way shape or form and moves up and down. But if you compare one of those Dodge pumps to a real 151 pump you will see what I mean. I think 95.00 for a rebuilt pump using new alcohol resistant materials is a damn good deal. It is going to last longer than you will.

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
NOW, If you look at the arm on this pump and compare it to the arm on a 151. Pretty damn close and Kaiser and continental had a good relationship in the 50's when this engine was developed.

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I could not agree more. I am a "old school Chrysler " Fan (70-71 Cuda's to be exact) I could make a 440 fuel pump work on a Mutt, but it would tear up the cam in no time.rickf wrote: ↑August 14th, 2019, 6:53 pmThose Dodge slant 6 pumps will "work", that does not mean they are not doing damage to the camshaft in the process. Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I guess I’m going to send my old ones to be rebuilt. $95 does not seem too bad to prevent the extra wear on the camshaft from the airtex pumps

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
CB,
Check bigmikesmotorpool.com for the A2 fuel pump. It’s listed on page nine. New correct fuel pumps with vent and correct intake and outlet directions. Listed for $94.95.
I got one last year, exact replacement for original.

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
I like Mike, He lives not far from me but keep in mind that the NOS pumps are at least 50 years old and have internals that are not only old and dried out but also not compatible with ethanol.

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
That doesn’t seem like a bad price for NOS ones, but I do like the idea of having the new internals that aren’t dried out and can handle the ethanol, even though I run non ethanol fuel

Re: A-2 Fuel Pumps Question
If you ask the fuel pumps from Big Mikes and others are probably repros not NOS.
That in mind I would question quality.
