And it is a winch model at that, sweet! You going to put a real muffler on it?

1) I'm officially jealous. Have fun!
2) As long as it's not my physical address or my wife's contact info I think I'll be okay. Guys, if I haven't posted on the site in few days ya'll may need to send search and rescue.

Re: M3a1 goat pic. request
I sure wouldn't mind having a goat, but there is no proper terrain to drive it on here, maybe in the Black Hills.

Top Speed is like 7 MPH lol. You can hear one coming 3 miles away.
Re: M3a1 goat pic. request
I understand ownership of a Goat completely. It's an itch that had to be scratched.
Many moons ago, friend and I faithfully restored the Nimitz Museum's DUKW to seaworthy condition. There was a lot of breathless anticipation there, I can tell ya, because we were told we were going to be putting that truck in the water for the first time in over 25 years. If I had read the specs more carefully I would have found we would never coax more than six knots out of that scow. That was the most boring 'thrill' I ever had.
Now, I'm going to crow a bit off-topic for a moment. I'm sure many of you recall my usual concerns about guys who want to dunk their MUTTs. I put this DUKW back together oh so carefully and was rewarded with a completely leak free boat, including the axle groups which would be swimming about 4-5 feet below the water. That's a LOT of water pressure! A guy with a great deal of expertise in DUKWs went out with us on the first run after assuring us that no DUKWs were absolutely leak free. With all deck plates and hatches up, he kept climbing around looking for leaks. There were none. I'm very proud of my work on that truck. Sadly, certain people at the Nimitz Museum had no appreciation for what I had provided them and the DUKW was left to rot, unloved and unused. I even had to go up and drill drain holes in the hull because they didn't have it under cover.
Anyway, congrats on that lovely Goat. Keep it out of the water and enjoy it high and dry because replacing axle seals in that beast must be a nightmare!
Cheers,
TJ

Re: M3a1 goat pic. request
Age has really caught up, I can tell by getting in this thing to grease it, Wow what 30 years makes on one of these. Got in under the steering wheel to grease one u joint on the PTO shaft and thought I was going to have to wait for the wife to get home to get me out. Cable on the winch ,never been off the drum, won't last very long with me. I had my last goat stuck in a drainage ditch and the top of the fender was level with the ground. Mile is 3800 ,she is a brand new goat, yes the speedo matches the instrument cluster and it matches the dash paint. My first goat back in 81 had 13 miles on it, was a static training aid out of Ft. Meade.

Two words...
Hearing protection.
Not because of the engine noise but because, if you need to have back surgery because of all that 'maintenance', you're never going to hear the end of it.
But seriously, you have yourself a keeper there. Congratulations!
Cheers,
TJ
