I remember the DD tires, I don't remember them being that squared off. The off road tires of that era were mostly rounded profile. And 32" were considered monster tires! Micky Thompson had some with a zig-zag pattern that we used to use for racing, we would cut the lateral bars out of them leaving only the cross bars. Man they would dig! great for light vehicles.

This is what I plan to put on my M37, I was thinking of also putting it on the 151. They say to use their coil but I am pretty sure that is just a commen form used for all ads, I seriously doubt they have an M series coil.

Re: IC Suzuki elec. ignition
There are plenty of electronic ignition parts still on the market, that were made here in the USA. Another option, as stated "go points". There are plenty of good used distributors out there from low mileage engines. Why mickey mouse something ?
Re: IC Suzuki elec. ignition
Do you have a supply of guaranteed good NOS coils? At reasonable prices? Same question goes for electronic ignitions, where are you finding all of these USA made electronic ignitions? The Swiss controls units out there now come from China and have been coming from there for many years now. NOS units are far and few between and very expensive when you find them. And all the Prestolite units and melted by now. I have several NOS prestolite units, all goo.

Re: IC Suzuki elec. ignition
Have you tried removing the goo and replacing goo with butyl tape. (round 3/8 rope) Should work perfectly. Anyway, that is what was done to mine, or so it looks that way.

I CAN TELL YOU FROM MY TIME SPENT WITH THE VIETNAM JEEP CLUB IN SAIGON THE ARE SOME OF THE MOST INDUSTRIALIST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET. THEY CAN FAB JUST ABOUT ANYTHING AND HAVE BEEN WORKING FROM A SMALL PARTS POOL FOR A LONG TIME. NO PART EVER GETS THROWN OUT, THEY FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT WORK AGAIN. THEY DRIVE THE HECK OUT OF THEIR JEEPS AND REALLY PUT THEM THROUGH WHAT THEY WERE MEANT TO DO.
I HAVE SEEN A GUY FAB AN ENTIRE BODY OUT OF SHEET METAL, IN A DIRT FLOOR LEAN TO, WITH JUST HAMMER, ANVIL, VERY SIMPLE BENDER AND LOTS OF BONDO.

If you try to force anything in there you will move the components in there and short them out. This is one of the jobs of the potting material and that is to contain the components in there locations since they are packed it very tightly and any movement will cause a short. Several people have managed to clean out the old stuff and repotted the unit using epoxy. The main problem is getting the old stuff out. You can't touch anything for the above mentioned reasons so it has to be flushed out. Which means finding something that will dissolve the old material without harming the electronics. That is a tall order. If it all melted out on it's own and fouled the distributor then you can just pour in the epoxy. I would suggest using wood based epoxy since it does not set rock hard. It is a bit pricey though. It is all I use in boat work.
