Re: M718A1 restoration
Heat it up red hot and let it cool naturally a couple times and that should take the hardness out of it. By red I mean very red. Once cooled off you should be able to drill it and you can probably harden it back up a little by heating it and quenching it in oil.

Toggle lock or Drop nose clevis pins are common for marine applications. Stainless lanyards are in ready supply from McMaster Carr. With a little google search time, you may be able to craft a very reasonable facsimile in stainless with less effort.

Progress being made, new clutch, tranny installed, left the pressure plate a little loose and she slid right in on the first attempt, engine installed.

Re: M718A1 restoration
Looking good, I am surprised you didn't spring for a new wiring harness even though that one looks ten times better than any of mine.

Re: M718A1 restoration
Blake sells the NOS harness for under $150, nice and pliable, he has a crate full of them.
Thanks Guy, I'm even impressing myself, takes a lot of time to do it right, going to buy an enclosed trailer to haul it around, can't wait to show up at one of our local MVPA shows. Never see any 718's at the shows.

Re: M718A1 restoration
One of the items for my A2 during the off season is replacing the wire harness. The harness was cut and the splice job is pretty rough looking. I'm surprised I've not had electrical problems. Buddy, you'll have to tell me the secret to getting a response from Blake. I've called several times in the past and I've never received a call back.

Re: M718A1 restoration
Well the search is finally over, found my last needed part, the LH dark green side curtain, glad I didn't have to try my hand at canvas dyeing, now it all matches.
