Re: Something old and classy.
Serial # of mine makes it around 1910.
While lower in #s manufactured, Swiss Lugers are easier to find in top condition, even though they are often older, due to the fact that the Swiss have not fought a war since the 1840's.
Plus, each Swiss serviceman was individually responsible for the condition of issued weapons.
Repair or refinish came out of his pay.
That is why you will seldom find a Swiss weapon that has been abused.
So while Swiss Lugers often don't have the collector value relative to German counterparts, it is easier to find them in top condition, and the price is often lower.
Kind of funny shooting one.
The toggle action obscures your sight and interferes with fast follow ups.
And most of the weight is directly above or behind your grip.
Grip angle is something people either love or hate.
I kind of like it, as it points very naturally.
Think of making a fist, hold your arm out straight, then sticking your index finger out and pointing with it.
That is how the pistol points.
P.S. Already looking for an earlier "Cross in Sunburst" model

Re: Something old and classy.
I found the Luger a little awkward to handle compared to a modern gun. But without any doubt is something nice to have.

Horst, That is because you are a "young" guy, Us old guys fit well with these old guns. And Raymond, I have been looking for a decent K31 for 15 years and I have never seen one that nice nor have I seen one Swiss marked. Is that 8mm?

7.5x55mm Swiss.
Ordered it years ago when they were first being imported.

As far as I remember, it’s been years I did shoot the Luger, it ejects the shells vertically. So they might rain back on you…
And if I remember correctly, it was a license built one, today we would say copy. Maybe even Chinese.
