V Belt upside down

Upside down V belt, Ok I went to put a thermostat on the 151, found this.Haven't driven/started in a long time.Maybe the mutt is haunted LOL!

Where is the other belt? That upside down one looks real loose.

The other belt is here, just not on, been trying to post a picture of belt bound up, but no go

Looks to me like the generator came loose and the inner belt jumped off taking the outer one off and flipping it. Or vice versa, the outer one flipped the inner one to the outside as it jumped the grooves to the inside. Unless the pully cut a groove in the belt you should be able to untangle things and put them back on and tighten them up.

So much for the old 'matched belt' theory....

Judging by the fact that the one still on is upside down AND loose I would say they were equally very loose and it was just a matter of when one went it took the other with it.

Not the first time I have seen it, nor the first time I have had it happen to me. Very common with race engines turning high rpms. I have had the loose belt get caught up in the fan and shred the radiator.
