Try backing your idle mixture screw out 1/4 turn to see if that improves the flat spot. If it does you can go another 1/4 turn as long as it does not start running too rich at idle. On these carbs the idle circuit is in play all through the rpm range.

Thanks Rick, I ended up changing out the distributor(points type)and carburetor to a Zenith, it seems to have cured the problems. The electronic distributor that was on it is full of metal shavings, I need to investigate what happened.

Today I mounted the AB-652 mount and antenna as well as the AB-15 mount and brush guard, the footman loop above the AB-15 mount was angled from the factory, AMG quality control. Yesterday I took it to the alignment shop, the factory shims were in spec, adjusted for proper toe with no issues. I knew I had play in the steering box before I took it, I tried adjusting it out with no luck, the post alignment test drive proved the slack to be too much so I ordered a new steering gear today. I will have to go back to the alignment shop to make sure nothing changes.

Changing the steering box should have no effect on the alignment. You are not changing any of the toe or camber settings by replacing the box.

Thanks Rick, I'll road test it first. The steering box is out, pretty simple job, UPS keeps delaying delivery so I'm still waiting. The toolbox lid portion of the FAC seat bracket arrived today, I blasted and primed it and will try and get it painted tomorrow. It is a legit factory piece, it has drawing/part numbers printed in the hidden away areas, it was semi-gloss od, then forest green then carc, it has been around for a while.

I now have the rear FAC bracket painted and installed, Guy is working on the drawing to make the front bracket. I knew I had some play in the steering gear when I started, after the alignment it really showed up going down the road. I just received a new steering gear and it was a simple direct swap. See my ball joint failure post to see what happened next.

New upper ball joints arrived today, I also discovered the RH is blown out as well, both were complete junk, amazing how it handles with working ball joints. I used my endoscope camera and looked inside the boot, they were packed with grease, good sign.

I pulled the mutt out tonight for a quick wash in prep for loading on the trailer Sunday. I will be heading out Monday to the Weare NH military vehicle show, I will also have my brothers A2 on the trailer. If you make it to the show I have a vendor space on the end row with camo net wrapped around it, stop in and say hello.

Tempting but long ride and I never remember to make motel reservations.
So tempting I just looked at the map to see if there was a place to stay and NADA, Nothing within reasonable driving distance. And most of that was north of the show. If I had my motorhome running I might do it and camp but even then, 6 MPG!!!

I think the nearest real place to stay is Manchester which I think is just shy of 1/2 hour from the show. I have been attending this show since 1997 and it's always been a good time. For me living in the far reaches of Maine it's the closest event, the Gilbert show is 12+ hours.

We did Airbnb's the couple of times we attended. The last one was a 10 min drive in the A2. Both places were truck / trailer friendly.
