What can I use for PL-S oil?

Unread post by 09FordRanger » September 2nd, 2024, 1:26 pm

Distributor is the last item on my lubricant list. As you folks probably know, it calls for PL-S oil. What is out there that I can buy that meets the specs?
Thanks for any suggestions.

3 in one oil is good, it is a fine grade machine oil and will soak into the wicks quite well. Motor oil will work also. You need a lubricant and not a solvent so keep that in mind.

Thanks again Rick. I'm really pumped. I'm just finishing replacing quite a few new parts. The distributor lub is one of several final tasks for this summer. Still struggling with trying to tune my carb (I'm at 8500 feet so air/fuel mix is a bit off). But I have an ace in the hole. Friday I'm driving down to Fort Carson car care center. Rocky was an old Army 63B. We'll get it.

Find best idle with mixture screw then run the screw in 1/4 turn at a time and it should come in. If you are running ethanol gas that will will help it a hair since the alcohol will lean it out. You can change the main jet to a #28 but that will only help ate wide open throttle and even then it is questionable since the exhaust manifold prevents enough air flow to utilize the main.
