Master cylinder and peddle assembly

Unread post by Pleiku68 » September 1st, 2024, 3:44 pm

I needed to replace my master cylinder. I read previous posts and TM's as a guide. Here is how I went about: Disconnect negative battery terminal. Remove driver seat. Unplug 2 connectors for brake light switch. Unbolt clutch shaft. Remove master cylinder filler cap. Disconnect brake line from master cylinder. Drain master cylinder. Remove light switch assembly. Reach in hole in dash and remove bolt from bracket inside dash - there is a captured or welded nut on the side toward the steering column. Remove 4 bolts from the engine side of firewall. Assembly should be ready to wiggle out.

That pretty much covers it. I have seen the wiring harness routed through the bracket a couple times but that is not that big of a deal, Just disconnect any plugs that are on the part running through and put aside. While you have it out be sure to lube all of the pivot points for the pedals and shafts.

Thank you. While I have the assembly apart, I've cleaned and will lube everything as it goes back together. I didn't even have to resort to any really bad language. I'll save that for the installation.
