M-151 Transitional Canvas Top W/ Side Curtains

Unread post by Walter » November 19th, 2024, 2:49 pm

Good Afternoon Everyone:

I have for sale a canvas (NOT vinyl) top that I removed from an M-151A1 with a large single rear window in it. It is in very good condition.

I understand that the large single rear window was a feature of the A2 and is typically made in vinyl and that the A1 canvas top usually had 2 windows. I am converting the M-151A1 into an ambulance, an M-718, and no longer need it. It includes both rear, side curtains. Price $775.00 plus shipping and sales tax. Arrangements for pick-up can be made. That's a $300-400 savings over new reproduction tops.

Let me know.

Regards,

Walter

Walter, Ford redesigned the M-151A1 for better handling properties and with other changes became the M-151A2 with mass production starting in February 1970. It came with the same canvas as the A1 had, except the rear window was enlarged to a one piece window for better visibility. AM General took over production in 1971 with the first production M-151A2 in the spring of 1972. It may have been at that time that the switch was made to vinyl. Kevin.

Good Morning Kevin:

Many thanks for the reply. Many moons ago when bouncing around the world for the USAF the A1's were what we drove. Perhaps it is better described as an earlier A2 top vs transitional.

It is still for sale. If anyone is interested in it make a reasonable offer.

Regards,

Walter
