Seat Belts For M151A2

Unread post by glcaines » January 9th, 2025, 6:43 pm

I'm looking for a complete set of original seatbelts for M151A2 in good condition. My A2 never had ROPS, but I can utilize ROPS seat belts.

I have a full set of lap belts I believe. I got several sets at a sale. These were used in all the vehicles and have the hardware for mounting them in 151's all the way up to 5 tons. I also have some belts alone. I need to keep two sets for my M37's.

My first M151A2 had ROPS, but I had to cut it out. The original rear seat belts were not connected to the ROPS so I didn't have to do anything. For the front seats, I used green commercial belts. The female buckle portion is secured to the original steel bracket bolted to the floor. The male buckle bracket is now bolted to the side of the A2 body using one pre-existing hole. I had to drill one new hole. Works fine.

Rick,
Do you have the two upright steel brackets that were used to attach the belt bracket to in the middle of the floor pan? Do to the snow, I can't get to my A2 to take a photo of what I'm talking about.

Do you just need a pic or the brackets themselves? I am pretty sure I have the brackets you are talking about in my A1.

I need the brackets. I have them in my first A2, but need them in my second A2. I can actually make some copies of the ones I have if I can't find any. They are basically just twisted and bent bar stock.

My question was mainly related to the shoulder belt. The lap belt can of course be used without the ROPS bars.

Horst,
I agree. There is no way to hook up shoulder belts without the ROPS, unless adding some additional structure to attach them to. When I was in the U.S. Army there were no seat belts of any kind in any U.S. military vehicles.

I totally understand the desire for some belts. I had a light car crash with my Jeep, still bending the frame however, had no seat belts and was lucky to not get hurt. From the insurance money I bought the M151 (and repaired the Jeep some years later). First thing I bought was the ROPS kit with the seat belts.

My two M35s (both gone) also had belts, but only lap belts, like the GTO, which I still drive once a year. The 911 has a roll bar with a six-point harness...

I can't believe I didn't see that on Ebay. I saw one ad with one very rusted bracket, but that was all. Thanks!

Those are the same belts I have in mine. I drilled holes in the floor that if I remember correctly lined up with the floor channel underneath and backed up the nut with a short piece of angle iron to spread the load.
