Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
I had asked permission to post the arrangements here and got it last night.
First, on behalf of the family, let me express how touched we have been at the kind and thoughtful words, memories, and stories you have sent about my brother. I don't know how to convey how comforting and wonderful all the e-mails have been.
Secondly, I promised information about the services in honor of Geoff.
France: A funeral mass will be held
Saturday, January 11th at 10 a.m. at the Cathedrale de Grasse, Place du Petit Puit, 06130 Grasse.
The interment will be for the family only on Monday, January 13th.
United States: A Memorial Gathering to Celebrate the Life of Geoff "GR" Webster will be held:
Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the historic Ramon Theater, 15 East Wall Street, Frostproof, Florida.
A reception will follow at "Alligator Lodge," the Webster family home.
I have been asked about flowers. Flowers are welcome at either service. Alternatively, gifts can be made, in his honor, to your favorite charity.

Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
I think I can say I knew Top fairly well and I can assure you that he would much rather see any money spent on his passing be put towards his fellow veterans. I think it would be best to either pick a veterans charity or support group as a whole or each person can individually donate as they wish to any organization they care to.
What a lot of people do not know is that Top had a grant program to help down and out vets get back on their feet by paying off their outstanding credit card debts and bills, no questions asked. this money was no big freakin' govt. program, No paperwork, he approved someone on their word. It came out of his personal checking account! That is who he was. THAT is what he would want us to do with any money we spend on his passing.

Top loved this site and his jeeps why not send something to G838?
slowest mutt east of the missippi..
Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
I appreciate that thought, HTN, but I think Top's memory would be better served by Rick's suggestion to help a veteran's group in his name....halftracknut wrote:Top loved this site and his jeeps why not send something to G838?
I think since that was what Top was doing himself,he would have liked to see us join in...

Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
Crap................just found out. We chatted a few times here and there. Sad it was always about either the UH-1 in Vietnam or the M-151. I had no clue he had continued his career in Aviation. I never thought to ask.

Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
Talking with my wife tonight and watching shows that're talking about people we lost in 2014. None of the shows are talking about our GR Webster. I just wanted to "bump" this thread and say that I'm really missing TopTiger. GR I know you're in a great place... I miss you, I appreciate having had the chance to get to know you, and thank you for everything.

Re: We lost GR Webster today - aka Top Tiger
Thanks Matt, you beat me to the punch. To all of those out there reading this, remember to raise a toast to Mr. Geoffry Randolf Webster tonight. He was a fine man, one I would aspire to be compared to. If you screwed up he would give you the officers talk down and then offer to help you out. If he knew you were down he would call to cheer you up. When I was stuck in the hospital for almost two months he would call every few days just to say hello and ask how I was doing. He didn't have to, that was just him. If he was on a trip somewhere and he got bored he would call me and his first words were " Rick, I am freakin' bored". To which I would have to ask exactly where he was bored. The answers were anywhere from the southern tip of Africa to the Swiss Alps to his home in France. He was a character. One I will never forget.
