The lastime I bought one was 8 yrs ago and that company is no longer in business.

Red River, Murray, Frontline. Any of the usual surplus places should have it. Just be sure to get the Swiss controls and not the Prestolite. Even the Swiss controls units are off shore now.

Re: electronic ignition module
still leaves the question why you want to get them? With the amount of driving we typically do with our 151s, I doubt you will see any advantage vs the old style points ignitor. As a matter of fact, likelihood that the electronic will fail is probably higher given that we don't put a lot of wear on the points one.

Re: electronic ignition module
I would say the opposite Horst. One of the single biggest improvements to my Mutt was electronic ignition. Much better idle and no dealing with ancient capacitors(condensers) going bad and pitting the points. At least for me, its worth every penny. I did the same thing on my MGB and my Ferret

They are still available around $50, I see some vendors asking $70-100.Fil Bonica wrote:Hold on to your wallet!!!

Re: electronic ignition module
I could not tell any difference at all moving from a points type ignitor to an electronic one. Granted, my old style ignition was practically new with less than 1000 miles on it. In all honesty, I do have the electronic version on the truck now but on longer trips, like our Alps crossings, I do carry a full spare ignitor with me.njjeeper wrote:I would say the opposite Horst.
