Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
Ammunition will NEVER go back down to the price it was before the pandemic. Not only because 10 million new gun owners added to the demand, but because of inflation. The raw materials, energy, shipping and labor needed to manufacture ammunition as well as the energy, shipping, labor, etc. to supply it to the market has gone up and will not go down to pre-pandemic/current political levels.
But, the price is dropping. The deal I posted is about 1/2 the price a similar buy would have been a couple of months ago.

It is out there, you have to search for it. as far as mail order SG is my goto place due to shipping prices and the fact that Sam is always there for you when you have a question or concern. But if you go to Wikiarms or Ammoseek you will find decent (for todays times) prices.

But if you want to see some really crazy prices look at 45 acp! Even the Russian stuff is up real close to .50 a round

Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
I have 4,000 9mm cases, 3500 45acp cases, somewhere upwards of 5,000 .223 and another 1500 30.06 cases. Plus I just picked up a MEC Grabber shotshell loader along with 1,000 wads, 1500 12 gauge hulls and 6 lbs of powder from an estate sale. All for less than the price of the loader alone.
NOW, All I need for all of this is primers! I actually have enough for all of the rifle stuff and the 45acp but zero 209 primers for the shotgun and only 700 primers for the 9mm. My 38 special I have several hundred primed cases so I am good there. All I need are primers and I certainly am not paying Gunbroker 1200.00 per 5,000 case price!!! Right before this all started I paid 37.00 for the same 5,000!!!!!!!!!!! In all fairness there are "People" selling brand new Federal and Winchester primers for less but still around .15 cents each. There is no way I will pay that much and you can say inflation all you want but no way does it cost anywhere near that to make primers.

115 gr. FMJ 9MM.
Brass case.
Made by GECO in Germany.
33 cents a round and fee shipping on orders over $200.
Shipping on ammunition often adds considerably to the price.

I think so. At least on 9MM. Price is coming down. Wish 5.56 and 7.62 NATO would drop faster.

Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
Not going to happen unless they take the restrictions off of steel ammo from Russia and maybe not even then because now Russia knows how bad we want that ammo and people are still buying it even at .50 a round!!!! Same exact ammo that was 13-17cents a round before the pandemic.

Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
Wikiarms is currently showing several loadings of new brass case 5.56mm/.223 ammunition under 50 cents a round.
First time in a while.
There had been some here and there under a sale such as a holiday or black Friday special, but it seems to have crossed the barrier.
I think the cheapest currently there is steel case and the filter didn't remove it.

Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
Interesting looking through there, I do not recognize ANY of those places selling the ammo? It used to be 10-15 places and that was it now all new and obscure places. I still stick to S&G when I need to buy in bulk, I can e-mail with a question and get an answer in under an hour from Sam, the owner. Shipping prices can't be beat. They may not always be the cheapest but they take the best care of their customers. Anymore I have been reloading. I can reload .223 at roughly .20-35 cents a round depending on how much I get gouged on primers and powder. I have about ten lbs. of BL-C2 powder that will work in any rifle round I am loading and quite a few other powders if I want to go for accuracy loads. Most of this powder was bought before the prices spiked and some was bought at an auction where I got really lucky.

Re: Good deal on random gun stuff
Other countries are stepping into the U.S. market.
And Remington is back in production.
I've shot some of the GGG ammo.
It is made in a NATO certified ammo plant in Lithuania.
It is a 55grain FMJ load and from the data I've seen, it is essentially civilian mil-spec M193 ammo.
Shot about as accurate as any other NATO spec 5.56mm M193.

Remington is back in production but all they are doing is selling grossly overpriced ammo to pad the pockets of Mr. Vanderbrink and his other shareholders. I will buy foreign ammo all day long before I support Vista!!!!!!!!

I blame much of this on inflation...
And that, on Joe, of course.
