Fellow member here has an a2 that based on the existing holes had radios mounted on each rear fender. On each fender wall there are 4 holes directly under each mount. Any idea what would have been mounted here? Headphones or mic holder, other?

Speaker and mic probably, Your friend might want to remove the radio and get some paint on the burnt bare metal!

Absolutely correct. Mostly, I see headsets hanging from those hooks.
