Dating early M-416 tub
I bought a complete M-416 recently for $300 and it came with an extra tub. The extra tub appears to be very early. It has three bolting brackets for the top of the fenders. It also has the 3 forward facing front bolt brackets to attach the tub to the frame. From what I can see online these features date it from 1962-1964 manufacture. The data plate is missing from it.
Can anyone date it from the registration numbers painted on it, 6N 7164. I figured Ken, (Mutt Guru) may be able to shed some light on the year this registration number would have been used. I know he keeps a database on the m-416.
Thanks in advance!
Joe

Re: Dating early M-416 tub
Unfortunately I have no record of trailer registrations in the "6N-series". however, I can tell you that the 6J-series ran through the middle of 1964 and the 6P-series from February 1965, so your 6N-series would have been somewhere in the latter half of 1964.....if I find any further trailer numbers that help pin down yours, I'll get back to you..... but for some strange reason, M416 owners seem to be somewhat reluctant to tell me their dataplate details. Maybe it's something to do with title confidentiality? Who knows?M37 wrote:I bought a complete M-416 recently for $300 and it came with an extra tub. The extra tub appears to be very early. Re: Dating early M-416 tub
I realize this topic is old but I figure why not post anyway just in case you still need the information.
I have a M416 that's still in the same condition as when I got it at a DRMO auction back in '96. It's got a registration number of 6N7046 and it has it's original data plate intact. It was manufactured by Johnson Furnace in 1965 and it's serial number is 67225.
It also has the 3 tabs on the top of the fenders that attach it to the tub.
I hope this info is helpful.

Johnson Furnace was located in my hometown of Bellevue, Ohio. When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike by there and see rows and rows of them, laid down on their tongues and parked, nut to butt awaiting the rail car that would take them to their owner.
Cheers,
