Re: Restoration of NBOER7
Hambone, Guy thank you, I have the bushing dimensions noted for when I press them in tomorrow. Today I torched out the bushings, if you just graze the bushing with the torch they pop right out and never touch the surface. I also disassembled all the hub and brake parts today, then using fixtures I had made many years ago pressed on the wear sleeve and pressed in the out seal into the retainer, no danger of damaging either. I'm back to work after having over a week off so progress may slow a bit but I will try and get something done every day.

I like the torch idea, just haven't tried it, keep the pics coming, like seeing projects. I've been focused on rebuilding motorcycles for the last year or so, about to get started on the M715, that should be a fun project.

Re: Restoration of NBOER7
Thanks Hambone, you might have seen my M715(1968) in some of my pictures. Today I only had a few hours before work but I did manage to get the suspension pieces blasted and the new rear bushings installed. Hopefully tomorrow I can get them primed.

Suspension primed today, you probably noticed one lower arm missing, it hit something and was damaged so I bought a NOS one to replace it. Hopefully this weather will hold and I will get it painted black tomorrow.

Finally some real color going on, my least favorite color to spray, it seems like the black takes forever to dry.

Today I am toughing up a few spots on the body before paint. I am not a body man, I just get by and it will still have some wrinkles and dents but that's the way it is.

These had wrinkles and dents from the factory! They were not intended to be a show vehicle. I am sure it is going to look much better than from the factory.

Wet paint! Thanks Rick, today I finished the sides as best as I could, it seems like I could have worked on them for days and never be satisfied. I sprayed another coat of primer on the sides to help fill in any scratches and cover over the gray filler/primer. Tuesday and Wednesday I am off and it's going green.

Today I worked on the front suspension, installed shocks, springs, ball joints and got one hub assembly on, I hate packing bearings. Tomorrow is paint day. Neat ball joint tag, "Missles and electronics"

Re: Restoration of NBOER7
Thanks Horst, I spent a good 8 hours painting today but it's done, the worst was underneath spraying overhead, 3 times at that. The lighting is terrible but it is 24087 green, 3 coats and a final 4th coat just on the outside of the body took a good 1 1/2 gallons.

That body is looking great, I remember being at that point, the part that sucked with my resto is the body was covered with thick cracked CARC paint, it was a PIA to remove.

Re: Restoration of NBOER7
Thanks Hambone, that CARC is terrible to get off. Today I finished assembling the front suspension, new brake lines, wheel cylinders, and managed to get it installed back on the tub, I had to use a chain hoist to get it in position, man that thing is heavy even without the diffs installed. Also finished the rear suspension, same routine, new bearings, seals, lines etc. I also shamelessly installed some bling on the dash, data plate, grab handle and doorway ring.
I am wondering if anyone might have a source for the clips that hold the rear hard brake line onto the arm ? , the two i have were either broken or rusted beyond use. Thanks.

Guy,
I’ve been looking for those clips also. Can you tell me which section they are listed in at Rock Auto? Haven’t been able to find them.
Thanks, Cal
