Except at the moment...when there's NUTHIN goin' on. Did the world shift on its axis? We have been under a stretch of interminably long, bad weather (April showers and May flowers and all that but COME ON!) Well, I am keeping busy by doing little stuff, like cleaning the rust off of yard sale tools, because that's always fun (not), surfing the internet, adding to the ever-growing pile of goodies for a halloween project that has been in the mill for, oh...three years, MORE surfing the internet, getting into the junk battery charger and determining even if I succeeded in making it work, it wasn't worth the effort (inside, it looked like it had been in the Purser's Safe on the Titanic), the cooling fan was toast, et cetera ad infinitum...
EVEN MORE surfing the internet, and trying to make just un pocito mas headway on a wooden carriage for my pirate cannon.
Don't ask for a peek. It's a secret project and if I tell you or worse, if I SHOW you, then I'll have to kill you!
I also welded up the plunge cut I made on the payphone for the purpose of cutting off the dead bolt to get inside it. Getting inside without a key is universally billed by internet payphone geeks as being quite impossible. (They don't know me very well.) You can see the deadbolt pointing straight at the camera on the lower left in the following photo of an unlocked unit.
The payphone housing is made of something other than straight, mild steel. Its response to welding was a bit odd. I did the job of zipping it shut between storms so, it was a rushed job. Got it done (not my finest work) but 'good' is good enough on stuff like this. The tacks are not laid straight as I was chasing a strange tendency for the metal to spark and then burn away and yes, I was holding the tip correctly. Weird. Still, I got her done. Once this area is glazed and sanded flat and the housing is refinished, you'll never know I went in there. Truth be told, I might just as easily have filled the cut with JB Weld. Maybe next time.
But, in the spirit of keeping things going, whether they're actually going or not, here's a little submission from the mini car show the other night. So much goodness in such a homely little package! Enjoy.

It's a fairly rare Futuro House (or Futuro Pod, if you prefer)!
I'll let you search that on the internet and don't forget to check out the images of Futuros in their prime. The late 60s and early 70s was a very cool time.....if you weren't in Vietnam getting shot up, shot down, or otherwise indisposed.

THANK GOD! The weather has turned completely around and tomorrow, I can begin the process of getting the half track's engine back together. With this nice, persistent breeze I'm just gonna let everything dry out today and get all the stuff that dribbled out of the threes swept up so that I have a reasonably clean work area to operate in.
I did mention earlier that nothing was going on which is, aa matter of fact, untrue. It's just been happening at a glacial pace. So, here's what has been happening (just in case you're taking notes).
The Rummage Gods have been good to me. I found something to go with my payphone kit and picked it up for next to nothing.. It worked. It worked better with a modern LED bulb!
And I found something to add to the ever growing pile of stuff needed to move other stuff around. $20!, (because it needed about 25 seconds of work to operate correctly)...
We had 6 cats when we left on vacation... Now we have 6 full cats and three half-cats (kittens) and they reside in the deepest, darkest, most derelict hole in this place (under The Kid's bed). If they can survive there, they can survive anywhere. Bucky is fascinated with them.
The Kid got his long hair cut off..Handsome Devil (he gets that from me, by the way)
And more rummage goodness - This is NOS, ROTB (new old stock, right out of the box). Now if you take the time to look up that NSN number you may conclude that it is something I don't need, chiefly because I no longer have a 151. That said, it would make a dandy seat-back pad for the back end of the Goat...and if that were to happen, it would be a complete and total waste of a perfect seat pad. So, I am kinda looking for someone who would benefit from having it. Someone who likes to wheel and deal. If that's you, PM me.

I know exactly where Ram's Rod Shop is. I have passed it many times. I used to deal with a truck place back in the same little park they were in, I see they are listed as closed permanently now. Covid killed another business. I like the play on words on the car name. BugNotti
