Top Bow Tie Down Straps

Unread post by m75 » April 2nd, 2022, 6:20 pm

Well, now I have new tie down straps and the pop rivets to mount them onto the top bow assembly.

What will help a lot are any photos (close-ups) of already-mounted straps on existing trucks, so that I can orient them properly before committing to the rivets.

Appreciate it!

Pulled out the bows and found the former strap mount holes. Now, when riveting the straps to the bows, do the rivets go through the strap material, or the metal tip?

A quick picture from one of the groups trucks would get me through this.

The rivets that came with my top bow straps were 1/8''. Sloppy fit. I used 5/32 rivets, same dia. as the originals

I hope someone gives you an answer. Apologies, but I have no old photos that reference that.

However, I do recall there was a rather substantial washer (properly known as a backup washer) between the rivet and the web material.

Cheers,

Top bow straps. The lower picture is how mine were installed and I looked at four other 151's and they were all the same.
