Holley carbs

That is one rough looking core! I have some like new Holley carbs but I am asking a bit more than that. Looking at that accelerator pump from that kit.............. questionable. Not something I would use in one of my rebuilds.

But, You get what you pay for and the price is reasonable as long as the linkages are not frozen or rusted off.

He has a bin full of them in various conditions, he has been opening some metals containers of new and rebuilt engines that have been sitting out in the weather for years, most are in bad shape. One of the containers he opened had a early green engine with a holley carb, it was in amazing condition after sitting in the container for decades. I'm going to get one of the original containers with an engine for a display piece.

I thought those containers were supposed to be water and airtight.

They may have been for a long time but they eventually gave it up, the containers were filled with styrofoam, once the containers started leaking, the styro would hold the moisture, the rubber seals gave up over the years. He has round and square containers, he said the square ones were the first originals. Funny the engines didn't survive but the lettering and numbers on the outside of the container is still present on some of them.

Not a good pic, but this is what the round containers look like, I will get better pics of both containers on my next trip.

When I got my replacement engine, I had put that one in while I repaired the original one, it came in a big box in foam. Like the differentials. Did not know they where also delivered in containers.

Aircraft engines and transmissions are shipped in reusable Army containers…
