V100's in the nam

Unread post by 199th mp » November 24th, 2022, 1:02 pm

OK, now on to the next long story. my MP unit in the nam provided convoy escort vehicles. the main one was the V100 armored car. it had a chrysler hemi and a holley four barrel. other than the throttle cables being junk, they were pretty reliable. we had six of them, and did most of our own wrenching. the day i took this pic, we were changing rear differentials. it actually took two days. we used two 55 gallon drums for jack stands, and an M151 gun jeep with a chain, to pull the old one out of the way, and drag the new one in. left to right, davis, crowson and rucker. crowson was on his 2nd tour

You can leave this here if you like but this could also go in the oddball vehicles section since it is a military vehicle.

Worked for Vinnell Corp. in Saudi Arabia. Installed Radio Sys in Cadillac Gage V-150 Drove them around. The V-150's were for the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG). They protect the King and Kings family and the oil fields. Did other work there. Great experience. 1980's
