Re: M151 Government Archive Photos
I was looking at the collar pins but on my monitor I could not make them out. I knew they used the rank pins but I just can't see them. You guys have better equipment than I do. I also find it interesting that the three guys are one unit and the girl is another. Did they pick her up hitchhiking?
And all you sharp eyed decoders, what units are they?

I know for sure the female's patch is The U.S. 7th. Army. I wore it for 4 years.
The patch on the other 3 looks like The U.S. Army in Europe. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: M151 Government Archive Photos
in this pic, i am on the right, with my hand bandaged after 93rd evac stitched me up, spring 1970. it's pretty tough to see, but i have SP/4 rank sewed on my shirt sleeves. not long after that, we switched over to pin on rank. when i deros'd in oct, we had pin ons only.

Re: the pictures of the publicity leaflet showing the glossy M151A2 in Germany, I had a good mooch through my old information to search for the actual leaflet. I never throw anything away (just ask my wife !) and after a good stroll down memory lane, I found the leaflet.
Publication date was 1976 but it could have been handed out a few years later than that date.
It all sounds idyllic being in US Army Europe. I wonder how many USAF personnel joined up?

Re: M151 Government Archive Photos
I get a kick out of the part where it says good starting pay. When I was in a private made 125.00 a MONTH!!!! I was making a whopping 250.00 a month as a Sergeant when I got out. A whole $63.50 a week. Yup, you could live on that no problem. But a private trying to get by on $29.00 a week? Even in 1970 that was a joke. $0.73 cents an hour for a 40 hour week, which we NEVER had.

Interesting discussion guys. Thanks for sharing. It’s pretty neat to see some of the recruiting materials. I just finished up a book by a soldier who was in Germany in the mid 80s.

Re: M151 Government Archive Photos
In Afghanistan, that seat is what we called Trunk Monkey. Don't know if that name became fashionable by the famous series of advertisements or by someone else.
Re: M151 Government Archive Photos
The Trunk Monkey was portrayed as an effective theft deterrent years ago.Your analogy is to me a question mark? Now my IQ could very well be the problem!!LOL
