Electric fuel pump question

Thanks for the exploded wiring diagrams they helped a lot from the small one I had Rickf and Mutt Guru. I had ordered a new safety switch, from South Korea, but the install threads are larger than original so it doesn't work. I found the 77 wire that had been cut and wired it to the pump in anticipation of the new safety switch. I'm at a loss why someone installed a hot wire from the battery to a switch cause the original safety switch works perfect! I'll remove the switch and hot wires from the battery and use the original system as you all had suggested. Thanks again guys.
