past the 1000 miles

Unread post by Horst » December 29th, 2007, 5:49 am

Cold over here, but still no snow (and salt). So I did drive the A2 again today and am now past the 1000miles on the odometer. So you can see I am still a 151 rookie.

However this is on the second engine (first one did always overheat because of clogged water passages due to the long storage). And third transmission (first one had seen water in storage, second one was a well used, interim take-out just to drive).

It is so much fun to drive this 151 that the M201 is not moved at all anymore (and I had enjoyed it for more than 15 years).

I am using the same carburetor and the same ignition system both taken from the AMG A2 engine on the government rebuild 151A1 engine. I have to say that it feels that it has some significant less horse power. Still very nice, but noticeable. Well, at least I kept the Taiwanese rebuild tag attached ;)

Stelios

A lot of people have that. The instruments will fog in after a short while when the truck is running and then it will go away. I guess it is a little moisture in the gauges. They should be water tight, but that was 40 years ago:) Some people drill small holes in the instruments, but I do not consider it a major problem. The pressure gauge needs to changed out anyway at some point, as you can see it is a 120lbs type, but full scale should be 60.
