The birth of hypocrisy and height of boredom

Unread post by sherwan_88 » August 17th, 2009, 2:09 pm

So, i got back from work today, bored as heck, wanted to do something exciting, the only thing which comes to the mind is the Mutt, at the end of the day came up with this, just finished with it. :P

The pictures are not very clear will take some in the morning.
Got some PVC fittings, elbows and bends, some PVC Cement and a Pod Filter, fixed me self a fording pipe with a pod filter mounted on top.
Its not the final thing, but just wanted to see if it works or not.

What do you think, bad idea or a good idea?
I plan to put a aluminum pipe rather than the PVC ones later on and a cylindrical paper filter in a steel case, as the main filter.

I would guess you lost close toe ten horsepower due to restriction from all of the bends. The stock fording kit costs hp and that is a lot cleaner flowing.

Rick, doesn't the cold, clean air compensate & keep the HPs the same as compared to the hot air , I would assume it would increase the HPs.

Think about it, where do you get the air from normally? The hole in the side of the hood. That is still cool air, and with no restriction.

Well, I am going to say yes and no. First you will need a sealing washer on both sides of the spacer. Second The heat range of the plug will not be the actual heat range in use because the plug is designed to be threaded into the head all the way. The heat transfers through the threaded area to the head. You are eliminating a small area of heat transfer therefor the plug is going to run hotter than it it says it will. On the other hand you can run it for a while and pull the plugs and see how they are running and change heat ranges accordingly. Wouldn't it be easier to get plugs with the right thread reach? I am assuming you are using civilian wires.

Rick,
Yes, using civilian wires for now, the stock military wires just lost there threads and would not hold onto the plugs, so frankly i don't want to spend another $75 which didn't last 300 miles. the plugs, i cannot find military plugs, bu all of them are used, so there is no sustained electrical energy for combustion, because every plugs gives off a different spark in terms of igniting power. Now since i'm running civi cables cables i need civi plugs.

Well i think i will pop these in today, drive with them for a while, see if it makes a difference and put in some pictures.

Hey Sherwan the problem is I think the shipping parts to yr country!!!!!So buying a lot of civilian parts would make yr mutt a little dificult to run it properly!!!Did u have search about dealers that can ship parts (original military ) to yr country!!! :?:

Baios,
No one will send parts, though TNJ got a license to send me parts, but the strange thing is i can't get John on the phone, neither do i get replies to emails, so i stopped trying and have decided to adapt the engine to locally available parts rather than trying to import stock parts.

Rick,
The plugs did not work neither did the cables, the mutt does not idle properly and misses, i think the current leaks, because i felt a jolt while pressing the accelerator stick connected to the carb  Strange, can this happen? why?

Sounds like the ground wire from the engine to the body in not hooked up. You should not have high voltage there anyway but if the ground was hooked up you would not feel it.
