$5 snorkel / intake
Had been on my mind for a long time and since I drive with the screen folded, I didn't want a drainage pipe going up in the air, waiting for the heaven to open up or catch a breeze 'up there'.
Costed me $5 & 1 man hour; buying & fixing included. Though I do not plan to skinny dip deeper than the gas tank cap, a precaution along with some 'umph' is what I wanted.
Need to play around with the law a bit and get rid of the damn yellow registration plate in the front. Its spoiling the overall looks.

The mega snorkel's nice but permanent, my submarine scope is an attachment which can be fitted when skinny dipping. No point in having a megastructure when one aint gonna use it. This fits in my tool box for a rainy day use. Oh & the elbow is NEW, didn't want to use a used one for some reason

Re: $5 snorkel / intake
Its not permanent, its perfectly 100% detachable, 30 mins, a socket wrench and its all back to stock! If it was permanent i would have never gone for it in the first place.

Re: $5 snorkel / intake
When i intent to ford, i put it on, and when not remove it. I am keeping it on till the October you never know when the ground fills up. Its basically a home made fording kit.
I have semi forded in this setup, its fine by me, but the other stuff needs to be vented too, like the diff and flywheel housing, plus the spark plug cables need to sealed.
I intend to sink this baby deep soon, of course with the right equipment.

Good luck with that ......... just check if your distributor has the 'O' ring seal in place, while you are at other things.

Re: $5 snorkel / intake
I was talking to rickf the other day and we discussed fording ops in our 151s.
You may have noticed that very few pics have ever been posted by USA owners doing that.... he pointed out that due to its structure our jeeps can't be cleaned and dried off like a CJ or whatever with a normal frame and water is going to get to the rails, closed off areas and and start hidden corrosion you wont be able to deal with.
I guess you can get them cheaply enough and repair them easily too so you don't really care and its your vehicle to do with as you want so enjoy but beware. And keep sending pics.
On another point, during one of my last trips to Jaipur the owner of the hotel there had a beautiful 1960s military CJ {M-38 A1, I guess}that was captured during one of your skirmishes with India- his grandfather bought if from the army and it has been passed on down 2 generations. Some time back he had to re-engine it with a diesel but it looked great otherwise. Lost the photo, sorry about that.

Re: $5 snorkel / intake
Couldn't agree more with you Top. Having forded, and done a few beach runs, I swore I would not get into that again. The cleaning just never ends. I'm using my intake for a rainy day only and when I say rainy I mean pour-y ....... coz when it rains, it pours like hell.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about. July 18th rainfall: Duration 1 hour; Measurement 277mm.

This is the first time i've ever seen a Toyota up into another Toyota's ass! Hilarious!
A Toyota sticking it to another Toyota....LOL!
I bet the drivers would be doing the same thing too!
A very good laugh to call it a day!
