Heater switch I.D. needed
I have a jan 67 date delivery. I dont have a heater hole or switch on the driverside. My switch was on the passenger side. The hole is there and the wire leading to it. But no switch. Can i go to the local parts store and buy a off, low, high switch? Or is there some nos ones for sale? Ive been looking in my manuals and cant find a single picture of one.

You can get a switch that would work at the auto parts store, but the military one is a lot more heavy duty. I would stick with the correct one. It has been several years since I had to look at mine. But I think it looks like this one at Saturn Surplus. It appears they are sold out of them, but it at least gives you a picture. I'm sure one of the other vendors might have one. Jeff at Frontline Military Vehicles posts here, so maybe try him

Re: Heater switch I.D. needed
It is just an on/off/on switch. The low is achieved by an inline voltage reducer. When you set the switch to "high" it sends 24 volts to the fan. When it is set to "low" the power is diverted through the voltage reducer before it goes to the fan.

The part number for the switch is 10950750. You can find this in the 9-2320-218-34P, Figure 141. Does your vehicle have a heater installed? I never seen a heater switch on the passenger side unless it was a bubba mod. I believe there was a master switch for the radios on the passenger side.

I have an 'a1 dated 4-67 that also has the blower switch on the pass. side of the dash. I've also been curious as to why? Perhaps a higher ranking officer who wanted control of the "climate"? Rank has its privelages. Just a thought!

Re: Heater switch I.D. needed
One reason I can think of putting the switch on the passenger side is ease of installation. If you pull power directly off the batteries, you don't have to run the cables all the way over to the drivers side and then tap into the power at the ignition switch.

Re: Heater switch I.D. needed
This one still had the original wiring intact from the ig. switch to the breaker. The rest of the heating components had been removed. (And recently re-installed.)

Perhaps it was a married couple that owned it and she was always cold so the the guy put a switch there to make here feel better.
Moose,
Heater install isn't too bad. Of course I just reinstalled mine and didn't have to cut out any holes.
