Re: Generic jeep
Got a little more work done, removed cattle guard, scraped all the rhino liner off, everything removed but front end and rear end, soon to be off to the blaster.
Re: Generic jeep
Is that an optical illusion or is that drivers side rail bent in towards the rear.

Re: Generic jeep
It's bends in a little, will take a pic of the bottom when I get it on its side.rickf wrote:Is that an optical illusion or is that drivers side rail bent in towards the rear.
Re: Generic jeep
I knew the original did that but I thought the aftermarket frames were straight back rails.

Re: Generic jeep
That is interesting. Pretty simple design. Does it have a front cross member where the toe board meets the front floor? Doesn't look like it from the picture.

Re: Generic jeep
That is actually the transmission mount but when done in unibody it has to be much bigger than what is on his. It's there, just greasy.

Re: Generic jeep
No cross member, tranny mount made out of flat bar, uses 1 1/2 x 3 tubing on the main frame rails w/ a few gussets, 2 x 5 tubing on the cross rails and 2 x 2 on the rear spring mount rails. The main rails run from front to rear, notching out the cross rails to fit over main frame rails, notched out 2 x 5 tubing to make A arm mounting.lpcoating wrote:That is interesting. Re: Generic jeep
I would weigh it but my wife broke the scales , Rick said it was made of 11 gauge, so 11 compared to 18, I would say it weighs twice as much, just guessing though.Horst wrote:how heavy is that thing compared to a stock M151 body?

Re: Generic jeep
I found some aircraft stripper at one of the local paint stores several years ago, in aerosol cans. I liked using it better because I could get it to work in hard to reach areas without any problems at all. (Don't get that stuff in your eyes either) a respirator is also good advise and long sleeve shirt too, especially if you use the aerosol kind. It goes a long way to use good eye protection though. I stripped a whole entire car doing this one time, and also I used a lot of Kerosene that we had laying around with a paint brush. If I had my preference though, it was the aerosol can aircraft stripper.

Re: Generic jeep
Picked these two up yesterday, the hunting jeeps runs, been converted to 12v, the hardtop jeep is in good shape, it has early seat frames and early spare tire retainer, has little rust in floors and needs rear panel.
